Call for IJCS editorial board members

The International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS) and the Editor of the International Journal of Canadian Studies (IJCS) are seeking applications to form the journal’s next Editorial Board for the period of September 2026 to August 2029. Nominations of colleagues from around the world are welcomed, as this call is not restricted to colleagues in Canada.

The IJCS is an interdisciplinary, bilingual journal published by the University of Toronto Press and supported by the ICCS. Founded in 1990, it is a bilingual, multidisciplinary journal that publishes the latest research in Canadian studies from various disciplines and fields of study. The IJCS is proud to be one of the few scholarly journals that brings together academic research conducted by both Canadians and international researchers specializing in Canada. It provides a common forum for Canada scholars from around the world to explore scholarly questions related to Canada. It publishes both thematic and non-thematic issues. All articles undergo peer review assessment.

The IJCS Editorial Board consists of eight members and supports the editorial team in the publication of one issue per year (usually in June). The Board meets virtually once a year (usually in March) to define the next call for papers, gather suggestions for improvement, and approve the outline for the June issue. It also supports the review process for articles in the next issue and the planning of special issues.

IJCS Board Members will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • a doctorate in Canadian studies or a related field;
  • research interests in the field of Canadian studies;
  • recognition within the Canadian studies community and ongoing active involvement in research;
  • experience in manuscript review;
  • publication record in Canadian studies journals (will be considered an asset); and
  • proficiency in English or French (both will be considered an asset).

The selection process will also ensure that a diversity of perspectives is reflected in the Editorial Board.
